FITNESS
FOR SOCCER CAMP WITH PIERRE BARRIEU |
Brian
Ching of the Houston Dynamo has
this to say about Pierre Barrieu's Fitness for Soccer
Program: "Pierre got me in the best shape of my
life in preparing for our World Cup Qualifying games
against
Mexico and Guatemala. He is the person that I turn
to whenever I have a fitness question and only wish
he lived in Texas where I could train with him daily."
Brian Ching visits with Perusa Soccer Camp
In
January 2006, The United States Soccer Federation introduced
the Fitness Level 1 License. This course was
developed and taught by Pierre Barrieu, Strength and
Conditioning coach for the United States Men’s
National Team. Perusa Camp Director, Juan Zapata was
one of the inaugural class members. Shortly after returning
from the course, Juan signed an exclusive three year
contract with Pierre, to bring the program to youth soccer
in Texas. There are only 10 camps in the United States
using this program and Perusa Soccer Camp is the ONLY
camp in Texas with the endorsement of Pierre Barrieu
and the U.S. Soccer Federation to teach this curriculum.
Coach Barrieu has traveled throughout Europe to learn,
teach and work with professional teams and trainers.
His list of clients includes: Freddy Adu, Landon Donovan,
and two time MLS champion and Houston Dynamo, Brian Ching.
The Fitness Camp is for players 12 years
old and above. The camp consists of five - three hour
sessions (Monday through Friday 9 am – 12 pm).
Daily sessions will focus on developing specific soccer
physical abilities. Sessions will consist of targeted
drills, game situations and specific game fitness improvement
activities. Players will learn the latest in footwork
and agility, speed development and running mechanics
in order to improve their endurance and stamina. Players
will be divided by age with a 1:12 staff/camper ratio.
All staff will be trained using the Pierre Barrieu
curriculum and will have a minimum of the USSF “B” license.
Schedule permitting, Coach Barrieu will
attend one or more sessions.
Cost for the camp is $150 per week.

NEW for
2008: JR. COORDINATION
|
Due to improper mechanics,
young players between the ages of 6 and 11 expend a lot
of energy on the field simply running. This means that
they tire easily and are less effective as the game wears
on. Moreover, they will carry these bad habits into their
older, more competitive years. The Jr. Coordination
camp is geared to teach the younger player the proper mechanics
for soccer with regard to running and respiration. In addition,
we will work on their fitness and coordination with games
and drills geared to the younger player. Feel free to email
or call if you have questions regarding this very unique
program. |
