FITNESS FOR  SOCCER CAMP:

In January 2006, The United States Soccer Federation introduced the Fitness Level 1 License.  This course was developed and taught by Pierre Barrieu, head Strength and Conditioning coach for the U.S. Men’s National Team.  Perusa Camp Director, Juan Zapata was one of the inaugural class members.  Shortly after returning from the course, Juan signed an exclusive contract with Pierre, to bring Barrieu’s “Fitness for Soccer” program to youth soccer in Texas.  There are only 10 camps in the United States that use this program and Perusa Soccer Camp is the ONLY camp in Texas with the endorsement of Pierre Barrieu and the United States Soccer Federation to teach this curriculum. 

The Fitness Camp is for players 12 years old and above.  The camp consists of five - three hour sessions.   Daily sessions focus on developing specific soccer physical abilities. Sessions will consist of targeted drills, game situations and specific game fitness improvement activities.  Players will learn the latest in footwork and agility, speed development and running mechanics in order to improve their endurance and stamina. Nutrition for game day and throughout the season is addressed and a personal physical fitness assessment is done for each player.  All staff is trained using the Pierre Barrieu curriculum and have a minimum of the USSF “B” license or equivalent.

The HOUSTON DYNAMO’s own BRIAN CHING is a long term client of the Pierre Barrieu training program.  Brian feels that the strength he’s gained by working with Coach Barrieu on a regular basis along with good nutrition keeps him in game ready shape.  BRIAN met with Coach Juan and several PERUSA athletes to discuss the benefits of the “Fitness for Soccer” camp.

JUNIOR COORDINATION CAMP:

The Junior Coordination program was developed to work on the footwork, agility and mobility of the younger player as it relates to soccer.  Jr. Coordination Camp is for players 6 – 11 years old. Various drills focusing on the mechanics of running, body positioning and other coordination techniques are taught which help improve the player’s efficiency on game day! Most of these drills are done, while using the soccer ball.
